First Determine version of the Windows operating system running – do the following:
- Click on the Start button
- Move cursor to “My Computer” icon and right click; a menu will pop up
- From pop up menu, select Properties
- An About screen will pop up and show the version of operating system
- Determine if it’s Windows XP, 2000, Vista, or Windows 7
- See if it is a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system
